Description of Works
A benchmark case in Western Australia, whereby more stringent regulation was imposed to all Construction and Demolition (C&D) Crushing/ Recycling Facilities by the DEC on the advice of SERS and one of the largest C&D waste companies in the state. This involved the provision of advice on the design and site set-up of a C&D Crushing/ Recycling facility taking into account environmental factors and mitigation techniques.

The formulation of management plans by SERS in conjunction with the client set new benchmark standards when managing all environmental emissions associated with the overall C&D waste recycling activity. SERS achieved environmental approvals (Category 13 & 62) through the formulation of all environmental management plans associated with the Development (planning and environmental).

SERS represented the client as the environmental experts in the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) process that was required by the client to gain satisfactory approvals. Works included liaison with all Regulatory Authorities (DEC/DoH/WAPC/DoW/Local Authority/Landcorp/MRWA) on behalf of the client. SERS also directly managed the client’s Town Planning Consultants and solicitors, in consultation with the client.

Outcome
Mediated outcome at SAT and Development Approval granted by WAPC.

Works Approval and Licence for the activity granted by DEC.

Contract attained for all environmental emissions monitoring (Dust/Noise/Asbestos) as imposed by WAPC for the duration of the approval (5 years).
